Today Marks a Sad Day 18 Years Ago!
Today is the sad anniversary of Lucille Ball's death. She died at Cedars-Sinai Hospital of a ruptured aorta after a surgery to correct cardiopulmonary problems.
Her last appearance was at the annual Academy Awards in March 1989. She appeared with Bob Hope to a standing ovation. After her death the sign next to CBS Studios at Television City in California read: "They needed a laugh in Heaven. Goodbye Lucy".
She was cremated and her ashes were buried in a masauleum (Columbarium of Radiant Dawn, Court of Remembrance) at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Los Angeles, California, but she was moved in 2002 to her hometown in Jamestown, New York and is now in Lake View Cemetery along with her family.
